France is expected to submit a formal EDF buyout offer by the end of September, sources

PARIS, Sep 16 (Reuters) – The French government is expected to start the EDF takeover process (EDF.PA) towards the end of September as the difficult task of settling the bidding price of the struggling energy giant led to a slight delay in the buyout process, three sources said.

The finance ministry said in July it planned to apply in early September, but has yet to formally apply to the AMF, France’s financial market regulator.

Sources familiar with the process said a formal proposal is expected by the end of the month, and possibly sooner.
