Veteran actor Sean Kanan reprized his role as Mike Barnes in the fifth season of Netflix’s Cobra Kai, and he pulled it off.

The battle for the soul of the Valley may be over, but the war is just beginning. The fifth season of Cobra Kai premiered on September 9 exclusively on Netflix.

The synopsis for season 5 is as follows: After the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Sensei Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) expands his Cobra Kai empire and tries to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. .

While John Kreese (Martin Cove) is behind bars and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) puts karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s done, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) must turn to an old friend for help.

Creators Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald and Hayden Schlossberg really wrote Sean Kanan’s character a compelling story, and he handled the acting in a rough and convincing manner. It was great how they played with his character (and how they layered on his emotions) and how he wasn’t just another villain under Sensei Terry. His dialogues were witty and intelligent. Sean Kanan has proven once again that he is one of the most underrated actors in the modern entertainment industry.

Sean Kanan deserves credit for a job well done in Season 5. He worked well with all his co-stars (Macchio, Griffith and Zabka).

For those who haven’t seen him in The Karate Kid III, Kanan can introduce Mike Barnes to a new and younger generation of fans.

Without revealing too much, Cobra Kai season 5 is highly recommended for everyone. Grab some popcorn and snacks, relax and enjoy the exhilarating ride.

Hopefully there will be more of where this came from (if there is a sixth season of Cobra Kai).

In addition to the #1 Netflix series Cobra Kai, Kanan also plays Deacon Sharpe on CBS’ hit daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful.

Kanan co-created the Emmy Award-winning digital drama series Studio City, which was directed by showrunner Timothy Woodward Jr. Studio City won the 2021 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited Series.
