“I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. There has never been a world leader who cared more about the welfare and health of horses than the Queen, and we will all miss her greatly. In 2020, Her Majesty gave me the greatest award of my life for my work in horse protection, and I am eternally grateful to her. It’s time to pay tribute to the queen for her great work in protecting the voiceless we care so much about. My thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family and the entire United Kingdom.”
Irby is a lifelong equestrian, former world champion equestrian, and former president of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association. He was honored by Queen Elizabeth II in August 2020., only the second time the British crown has been so honored. Animal Wellness Action is a Washington, D.C.-based 501(c)(4) organization whose mission is to help animals by promoting anti-cruelty laws. We stand for causes that alleviate the suffering of pets, farm animals and wildlife. We advocate policies to end dog and cockfighting and other forms of malicious cruelty, as well as to oppose factory farming and other systematic forms of animal exploitation. To prevent violence, we encourage the adoption of good government policies and work to enforce them. To pass good laws, we must elect good legislators, and so we remind voters which candidates care about our issues and which ones don’t. We believe that helping animals helps us all.
