Former US President Barack Obama has good reason to be proud. On Saturday, he received his first Emmy Award for the Netflix documentary series Our Great National Parks.
RuPaul, who submitted the category, accepted the 2022 Emmy Award on his behalf to a standing ovation.
Obama is halfway to EGOT, which is an achievement as he has won all four major American entertainment awards (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony). In 2009, he was awarded the coveted Nobel Peace Prize.
Obama was recognized as an “Outstanding Storyteller” for the “Our Great National Parks” series, which was called “Wonder World.” IMDb page. In this edition, we explored the beaches of Africa, the island of Japan, and the Great Barrier Reef of Australia.
In addition to Outstanding Narrator, the documentary series Our Great National Parks was also nominated for Outstanding Cinematography for a Documentary Program.
Obama has received two Grammy awards in the past for Best Spoken Word Album for The Boldness of Hope: Thoughts on the Return of the American Dream in 2008 and for My Father’s Dreams back in 2006.
Obama was also nominated for a 2022 Grammy Award in the category “Best Spoken Word Album (Including Poetry, Audiobooks and Storytelling)” for “Promised Land”.
